   DirectMail.com recently started a National Do Not Mail List, which is similar to the Do Not Call Registry. Junk mail is more than just an annoyance; it's an environmental travesty.  Every year, junk mail production destroys 100 million trees, creating as much global warming emissions equivalent to the emissions of 9 million cars. And the tons of junk mail requires much more capacity from the USPS, not to mention more gas burned delivering the stuff. How many days do you get only junk mail? On those days, the mail carrier wouldn't have had to even stop at your place. Everywhere you look, junk mail is a colossal waste!
